I recently bought a new camera lens for my Canon Xsi, and it appears as if it will not glue to the main part. Do I beggary to buy some quality of lens converter?

Cameras have specified lens mounts, so that Canon will only take a lens with a Canon-peculiar mount (and Canon distinguishes between the EF, EF-S and directions centre mounts). Pentax cameras take pentax-mount lenses, etc.
Thus, it's liable that the Tamron lens you have is in the shameful mount if it won't fit on your Canon. Fit the box it came in for confirmation and/or the Big Board it from the set up you bought it.
